Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
Normal bodily functions, such as breathing and the filling of the bladder and bowels, can result in tumor movement. Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) is an advanced technology that allows the Radiation Oncologist and therapists to track the tumor for precise radiation delivery.
Adjustments can be made when a tumor moves outside of the planned treatment area. Therefore, IGRT not only assists in the accurate delivery of radiation to the site of cancer, but it helps to limit radiation exposure to healthy tissue which reduces common radiation side effects and improves results.
The advanced imaging equipment at our center is state-of-the-art to help our team deliver the highest standard of care to our patients. The physicians, technicians and staff at Eastside Radiation Oncology are among the most skilled using IGRT technology.
